Oil and gas from the North Sea has been a source of reliable and secure energy for the UK for more than 50 years. As society moves toward lower-carbon energies, we believe oil and gas will play an important role in both the energy transition and meeting the UK’s energy demand.

Assets
Buzzard
The Buzzard field is located approximately 100 kilometres northeast of Aberdeen. It consists of four fixed platforms and three subsea manifolds. Buzzard is operated by CNOOC International.
Clair
The Clair field is located approximately 75 kilometres west of Shetland. Clair is operated by bp.
Gannet
The Gannet field is located approximately 180 kilometres east of Aberdeen. The Gannet Complex comprises a fixed drilling, production and accommodation platform which processes oil and gas from the Gannet A, B, C, D, F and G fields.
Mariner
The Mariner field is located approximately 150 kilometres east of the Shetland Islands. The field development concept includes the Mariner A production, drilling and living quarters platform based on a steel jacket with a floating storage unit, Mariner B.
Nelson
The Nelson field is located approximately 200 kilometres east of Aberdeen. It comprises a single, manned drilling and production platform and a subsea satellite tied back to the platform. The Nelson cluster consists of the Nelson field, Howe and Bardolino are subsea tie-backs.
Penguins
The Penguins field is located approximately 241 kilometres north-east of the Shetland Islands. It is a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility. The previous export route for this field was via the Brent Charlie platform, which ceased production in 2021. It will have around 30% lower operational emissions compared with Brent Charlie.
Pierce
The Pierce field is located approximately 265 kilometres east of Aberdeen. Pierce is a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. It was upgraded to allow gas to be produced after years of the field producing only oil. The FPSO completed restart of operations in April 2023 following the major redevelopment.
Schiehallion
The Schiehallion field is located approximately 175 kilometres west of the Shetland Islands. Schiehallion is operated by bp.
Shearwater
The Shearwater field is a high pressure, high temperature gas condensate reservoir, located 225 kilometres east of Aberdeen. Shearwater is a normally manned integrated Process, Utilities and Quarters (PUQ) platform which is bridge-linked to a Wellhead Platform. Shearwater is also a hub for the production of gas from the Arran and Fram assets.
Victory
The Victory gas field is located approximately 47 kilometres north-west of the Shetland Islands. The development features a single sub sea well which is tied back to existing infrastructure of the Greater Laggan Area system, using a new 16 km pipeline.
Projects
Jackdaw
The Jackdaw gas field is located approximately 250 kilometres east of Aberdeen. Jackdaw is expected to start production during this decade and could represent more than 6% of projected UK North Sea gas production, with operational emissions of less than 1% of the whole UK basin.
Rosebank
The Rosebank field is located around 130 kilometres north-west of Shetland. The Rosebank field will be developed in two phases with subsea wells tied back to a redeployed Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO). Start-up from Phase 1 is planned in 2027.
Tornado
Tornado IntroductionThe Tornado field lies within Blocks 204/13 and 204/14d in the Faroe-Shetland channel, West of Shetland. The Tornado field is located approximately 153 km west of the closest landfall on the Shetland Islands and approximately 6.5 km southeast from the UK/Faroes transboundary line.
