People & Communities

We take a strategic, impact-driven approach to supporting people and communities. Our social investment initiatives are designed to deliver measurable benefits. By aligning our programmes with national priorities and local community needs, we ensure that our efforts foster inclusive development and shared progress.

Investing in skills and the next generation

We’re investing in initiatives that help people in the North East develop the skills needed to thrive in the evolving energy sector.

Two of our most significant commitments are our support for the Energy Transition Skills Hub in Aberdeen and the Girls in Energy programme.

Aberdeen Energy Transition Skills Hub

Adura is proud to serve as the lead industry partner for Scotland’s largest Energy Transition Skills Hub, a transformational facility designed to help 1,000 people into energy transition jobs over its first five years of operation.

Opened in 2025, the Hub is the anchor project of the city’s Energy Transition Zone. It brings together state of the art facilities including:

  • A welding academy, already tripling NESCol’s previous training capacity
  • An advanced manufacturing zone
  • Future technology digital training suites used for innovation, renewables and modern engineering skills

By working closely with North East Scotland College (NESCol) and the Hub’s partners, Adura is deepening industry support for the region’s workforce to help ensure the North East remains a global centre of energy excellence—supporting both today’s energy system and tomorrow’s low carbon future.

Girls in energy

Inspiring the next generation of women in STEM is essential for a diverse, resilient energy workforce.

That’s why Adura is investing in the Girls in Energy programme as lead sponsor from the start of the 2026 academic year, building on the foundation built by Shell UK over more than 15 years.

Girls in Energy is a year-long hands-on course, delivered by our partner North East Scotland College (NESCol). Students are provided the opportunity to build their skills and knowledge and to consider careers in the energy industry.

Students achieve a National 5 – Skills for Work Energy, take part in industry visits, talks, and hands-on workshops.

Over 1,800 young women have completed the programme to-date, with 300 students taking part each year. We’re proud to continue this legacy and support Girls in Energy’s continued impact in the North East of Scotland.

STEM

We support a range of STEM initiatives near our offices and operations in partnership with leading education and skills organisations.

We partner with Aberdeen Science Centre and TechFest, helping to nurture the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.

Apprenticeships

We are a proud industry sponsor of the APTUS Scheme managed by OPITO.

Since 1999, APTUS has provided apprentices with unique onshore and offshore work experiences, combining classroom learning with hands-on training.

Community
development

We collaborate with a variety of community partners to support activities and projects that are tailored to local priorities. Our sponsorship of Our Union Street reflects our commitment to strong community connections around our headquarters in Aberdeen.

Our social investment extends beyond funding, and our employees actively volunteer their time and expertise to help create lasting change where it matters most.
