Press Release

Today (10th August 2026) at midnight marks the end of the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning’s (OPRED) public consultation period in relation to the Jackdaw gas project.

Jackdaw is one of two advanced projects being progressed by Adura, the other being the Rosebank oil and gas field West of Shetland.

Together, Jackdaw and Rosebank represent a combined anticipated investment of £10.8 billion. Across their producing lifespans, the projects are expected to generate £28.7 billion in Gross Value Added, support thousands of skilled jobs and apprenticeships, and make a material contribution to the UK’s domestic energy supply.

Neil McCulloch, Chief Executive of Adura, said:

“We are grateful to everyone who has taken the time to participate in the consultation and make their views known, including the many businesses and organisations that have spoken in support of Jackdaw and its positive impact on the wider UK energy supply chain.

“Jackdaw and Rosebank are advanced projects of national significance. Together, they can strengthen the UK’s energy security, sustain high-quality jobs and apprenticeships, support businesses across the country and generate billions of pounds of economic activity and tax revenues – and they can do so with lower associated carbon emissions than alternatives, such as imported LNG.

“We would also like to thank OPRED for running a thorough consultation process. We look forward to continuing to work constructively with the regulator and the UK Government as they complete their consideration of Jackdaw.”

Notes to editors:

OPRED will now consider the consultation responses on Jackdaw before a ministerial decision on whether to approve the project.

The public consultation on Rosebank remains open until 17 August 2026.
